Asbestos Register for a Workplace
Workplaces in Melbourne & Victoria are legally required to have an asbestos register on site and accessible at all times under the OHS Act. Greenlight are your road-map to asbestos safety and compliance with these laws. Aside from meeting your legal obligations, your workers will be happy that you have taken measures to ensure their health and safety.
Asbestos Register for a Work Site
An asbestos register is also required prior to the demolition of any building or any commercial refurbishment works. These are referred to in the industry as a Division 6 Asbestos Register. Division 6 Registers can optionally include other hazardous materials such as lead paint, lead dust, PCBs and others.
Your asbestos register with Greenlight will be carried out by a tertiary qualified consultant with a minimum of 7 years experience. We will provide a detailed report with in-line photos, colour coding, risk assessments and recommendations for all asbestos items.
Reports are available within one week of our investigation.
The range of cost for each inspection type is outlined below, Due to the range of buildings in Melbourne there can be some variation to these rough costs. Send us the details of the site you and you can at your preferred time. Pay now or pay later - the choice is yours.
Worplace Safety & Asbestos Materials
Most asbestos materials are only dangerous if they are mechanically disturbed by actions such as drilling, cutting, grinding, sanding or water-blasting (this last one is an illegal act in Victoria).
Given the range of tasks you have to perform at your workplace, it makes good sense to know where your asbestos materials are. Once identified it is important to convey this information to any contractors working on the site as well as employees and confirm with them that they will not disturb the asbestos materials as part of their works.
Before refurbishment or demolition works the materials must be removed by a licensed asbestos removalist. If you are needing this we can put you in touch with some safe and vetted contractors.
Knowing where asbestos materials are is the key to protecting your workers from possible harm. We will also carry out a 12-point risk assessment and determine if any further actions are required for each asbestos item. Recommendations will be included in-line with any asbestos items noted.
